How to Use the Password Generator

  1. Set password length: Use the slider to choose a length between 8 and 64 characters. Longer passwords are more secure.
  2. Select character types: Check or uncheck the boxes to include uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. More variety increases security.
  3. Generate password: Click "Generate Password" to create a cryptographically secure random password.
  4. Copy and save: Click "Copy" to copy the password to your clipboard, then save it in a secure password manager.

What Makes a Strong Password?

A strong password is your first line of defense against unauthorized access to your accounts. The strength of a password depends on several key factors: length, complexity, and randomness. Our password generator uses cryptographically secure random number generation to create passwords that are virtually impossible to guess or crack through brute force attacks. Check your password quality with our Password Strength Checker.

Length is one of the most important factors. A 12-character password with mixed character types has over 75 bits of entropy, making it incredibly resistant to attacks. Each additional character exponentially increases the number of possible combinations an attacker would need to try. For maximum security, we recommend passwords of at least 16 characters.

Password Best Practices

Use unique passwords: Never reuse passwords across different accounts. If one account is compromised, reused passwords put all your other accounts at risk.

Use a password manager: It's impossible to remember dozens of complex, unique passwords. A reputable password manager securely stores your passwords and can generate strong passwords automatically.

Enable two-factor authentication: Add an extra layer of security by requiring a second form of verification beyond just your password. Generate unique identifiers for your accounts using our UUID Generator.

Regular updates: Change passwords periodically, especially for sensitive accounts like email, banking, and work-related services.

Understanding Character Types

Uppercase letters (A-Z): Including capital letters adds 26 possible characters per position, significantly increasing password complexity.

Lowercase letters (a-z): The foundation of most passwords, providing another 26 characters to work with.

Numbers (0-9): Adding digits increases the character pool by 10 and makes passwords harder to guess using dictionary attacks.

Symbols (!@#$%^&*): Special characters dramatically increase entropy and are often required by security-conscious websites. They make passwords resistant to pattern-based attacks.

How Secure Are Generated Passwords?

Our password generator uses the Web Crypto API's cryptographically secure random number generator, the same technology used by security professionals and major organizations. This ensures that passwords are truly random and unpredictable, not based on pseudo-random algorithms that could potentially be reverse-engineered. A 16-character password using all four character types has approximately 95^16 possible combinations, which would take even the most powerful computers billions of years to crack through brute force. Privacy and Security

All password generation happens entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. No passwords are ever sent to our servers or stored anywhere. Once you navigate away from this page, the generated password is gone unless you've saved it. This ensures complete privacy and security for your generated passwords. Always use HTTPS connections when accessing password generators or entering passwords online.
